چکیده
MiniBooNE, the Mini Booster Neutrino Experiment at Fermilab, will confirm or refute the existence of the neutrino oscillation signal seen by the Liquid Scintillator Neutrino Detector (LSND) Experiment at Los Alamos National Laboratory. The experiment will search for the appearance of electron neutrinos in a beam of muon neutrinos. This work presents preliminary results from the first round of analyses of charged current quasi-elastic events, neutral current π 0 events, and neutral current elastic events. The neutrino oscillation analysis is not presented in this work; it is a blind analysis which will not be presented until the full set of data has been collected.

MiniBooNE and Sterile Neutrinos
Sterile neutrinos may be an important extension to the standard model, and could both hold the key to understanding neutrino mass and mixing as well as play an important role in leptogenesis. In many models, the sterile neutrinos could be light and accessible to current and near term experiments. The MiniBooNE experiment is set up to explore these possibilities in the ∆m region from 0.3 to a fe...
متن کاملNeutrino induced pion production at MiniBooNE and K2K energies
We investigate charged and neutral current neutrino-induced incoherent pion production off nuclei within the GiBUU model at energies relevant for the MiniBooNE and K2K experiments. Special attention is paid to the entanglement between measured CCQE and CC1π+ cross sections. We further give predictions and compare to recent data measured at MiniBooNE.
متن کاملMiniBooNE Oscillation Results
Motivated by the LSND observation of an excess of observed ν̄e events above Monte Carlo prediction in a ν̄μ beam 1, the MiniBooNE experiment was designed to test the neutrino oscillation interpretation of the LSND signal in both neutrino and anti-neutrino modes. MiniBooNE has approximately the same L/Eν as LSND, where L is the neutrino travel distance and Eν is the neutrino energy. However, the M...
متن کاملνe disappearance in MiniBooNE
The anomalous excess of low-energy νe events measured in the MiniBooNE experiment is explained through a renormalization of the absolute neutrino flux and a simultaneous disappearance of the νe’s in the beam, which is compatible with that indicated by the results of Gallium radioactive source experiments. We present the results of the fit of MiniBooNE data (Pνe→νe = 0.64 +0.08 −0.07) and the co...
متن کاملSupernova Neutrinos, Lsnd and Miniboone
The unique constraints on neutrino oscillations which can be obtained by measuring the energy spectrum of supernova ν̄e’s are first discussed. The focus is on 4-neutrino mass and mixing models capable of explaining the LSND evidence of ν̄μ → ν̄e oscillations. The potential of the Fermilab neutrino detector MiniBooNE to observe supernova neutrinos is then addressed, and a general description of the...
